Welcome to KICK Colorado

 

Over six years ago I watched as dear friends, TJ and Tiffany Holgerson stated an incredible movement in Kansas City, Missouri called KICK Martial Arts. KICK stands for Kids Internationally Changing Kids.  KICK is dedicated to both martial arts and missions. The Holgersons believe that kids have the innate ability to positively change the world and themselves in the process, therefore they partnered with a ministry called Global Orphan and part of their proceeds go to orphanages in Haiti.  

In 2021, we want to bring this same passion for martial arts, community activism, and world change to Colorado Springs.

  Immediately, the coaches and I was so inspired by the guiding principles of KICK: 

We will lead this school from a position of love, not fear. We will serve and lead out of a love for our children, our families, our employees, our community, and our world. We believe that fully embracing our mission to children and families first, without fear, will translate to healthy business. And we will not compromise our mission for money.

We will approach each student as a unique Masterpiece. Through a faithful process of excellence in martial arts, applied teaching of character development, and serving hurting children, we will help each student move towards the unique Masterpiece that he/she is intended to be.

We believe that children have the power to change the world, and will demonstrate that power through the children of the KiCK community. The children in this school will positively influence others not just later in life, but now. They will become life-changing servant leaders at home, in school, and to hurting children in our community and our world.​

Our heart is to continue this movement through martial arts instruction and activism in our community! Stay tuned as we share our hearts and vision for KICK Colorado!

  What if we could create a world where we spent our day thinking of ways we could show kindness to those around us? One of our goals at KICKCO is to inspire young athletes to go above and beyond to demonstrate kindness in their home, school, community, and world. We are committing to doing a combined 10,000 Acts of Kindness this year. Athletes start their journey to intentional kindness by simply taking some slips of paper home to record their efforts to 1) think of others, 2) initiate an act of kindness... without being asked and with getting paid! The journey continues when they return to the KICKCO training center to share their achievements with others and contribute to the goal. KICKCO Life-Defense

  In the last decade, suicide has become increasingly common among young people.  In an article posted by USA Today, experts reported that “ The rate of suicide among those aged 10 to 24 increased nearly 60% between 2007 and 2018.” More recent research done by the National Institute of Mental health agrees that “ Suicide is a major public health concern. Suicide is among the leading causes of death in the United States. Based on recent nationwide surveys, suicide in some populations is on the rise.” Building our martial arts program we wanted to identify dangers in young people’s lives and develop defense tactics that would help them stay safe and protect others around them. We couldn’t just teach them physical defense strategies and not empower them with mental, emotional, and spiritual defense as well.
